I disagree with that for a start. How many great songs would you say they had?

The Clash could probably stretch to close to that. I would say the best of The Clash is certainly not in the shadow of Zeppelin anyway.

The Clash didn't out strip the Damned or The Jam

Motorhead, Joy Division, and Magazine also need to be considered
It's kinda depressing for a music forum to be proud of not knowing musicians.

King Crimson straddles both eras with the single most impressive band reinvention ever attempted

They can hold their own with Zep, Floyd, Roxy and Magazine, This Heat, and Joy Division

Don't be absolutely absurd. You cannot put two flash in pan bands, like the pistols and the clash againt the two defining groups of the era. Sometimes Coan....

Hmmmm no The Who? In the past I would have said Zep, but I have been discovering The Who over the last couple of years.

Sabbath were incredibly influential, but within a narrower Metal sphere.

So for me it's out of

Zep
The Who
Sabbath
Clash
Floyd

50/50 really. Three OK to good albums. Three Godawful embarrassments. It's a draw.

The Clash or The Jam

To choose anybody from before 1977 would be like choosing Harold as your the best 11th Century King.

Throbbing Gristle ???

I mean there's another few on that list that are dubious but TG ?? You're taking the piss surely.

Not at all. I love TG. I might be the only one on BCB who does but I don't care.

They surely were one of the highlights of their time in UK. Great band.
