Good morning! I'm spinning Jimmy Rogers this morning - no, not the country singer, nor the pop singer, but a lesser known blues cat on the Chess label. And it got me thinking, there are quite a few artists or acts who share the same or nearly the same name. Who can we list?
Jimmie Rodgers - The Singing Brakeman
Jimmie Rodgers - pop singer on the Roulette label
Jimmy Rogers - Blues cat on Chess label
Sonny Boy Williamson I
Sonny Boy Williamson II
Hank Williams
Hank Williams Jr.

Peter Skellern, Mary Hopkin and Julian Lloyd Webber were in a group called Oasis in the 1980s.
I think there were two bands called the Spinners and two called the Beat.

There was an earlier Knack, L.A.-based, that also recorded for Capitol. Otherwise, no connection.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Mick Jones - The Clash
Mick Jones - Foreigner
Micky Jones - Man
All guitarists.
Just read Thomas Dolby's autobiography, he was living a bohemian life in Paris when word came that Mick Jones needed his help on some recordings in New York. Assuming it was Clash Mick, he agreed, only to discover it was Foreigner Mick. Who paid well...

Hooray for Jimmy Rogers!
Perfect music, perfect records.
Doesn't hurt that he has the greatest band of all time backing him most of the time.

Not known enough, for sure. Had the pleasure of seeing him in a small venue in Southampton many years ago.
The Drifters - UK band, released one of the greatest UK rock'n'roll singles along with some guy named Cliff Richard, had to change their name due to the US Band who are far more well known. UK Drifters became the Shadows.

Indie rock band the Champs forgot about the "Tequila!" band, so changed to the Fucking Champs.
Dinosaur Jr, had to become Jr. because another band bearing the name the Dinosaurs had toured a year earlier. It was old Frisco guys, ex Country Joe's Fish, Quicksilver, etc.
